Native football app for iOS and Android
OnFire
An interactive football companion app built in React Native — live match scores, player stats, and prediction-based challenge games with real prizes, designed for the quick, repeated check-ins that sports apps live on.
- Role
- Mobile team lead — React Native
- Year
- 2023 – 2024
- Platforms
- iOS, Android
- Stack
- React Native, TypeScript, Redux
The problem
Sports apps are opened constantly and briefly, often on a poor connection, and the data underneath them changes by the second. The interface has to stay readable while it is updating, and it has to feel native on both platforms rather than like one app wearing two costumes.
What I worked on
- 01Led the mobile team, working on the React Native codebase shared across iOS and Android.
- 02Worked on the live data presentation — match state, scores, player stats and standings — so the UI updates without disorienting the reader.
- 03Contributed to the prediction and challenge-game mechanics, including prize rounds tied to individual fixtures.
- 04Worked on RTL support, so the Arabic experience is laid out correctly rather than mirrored as an afterthought.
Outcome
The app is past 100,000 downloads on Google Play and runs on both iOS and Android from one React Native codebase. I worked on it as part of the mobile team rather than on my own.
Screens

Live and upcoming fixtures. Scores update in place while the countdown keeps running.
The same screen in Arabic — built RTL, with the numerals and countdown reading correctly.
Match detail — a live event timeline covering goals, cards and VAR decisions.
Prediction rounds attached to a fixture, with prizes and per-match questions.
Running on Android from the same codebase — native conventions on both platforms.
Onboarding, carrying the brand’s local identity.
