Senior Frontend Engineer · Tulkarm, Palestine

Frontend engineering for products that are already carrying real traffic.

I've been building production web and mobile interfaces since January 2015. Since 2022 I've contracted directly with Upwork's engineering organization, working inside a live, high-traffic codebase to their internal engineering standards. I've also led the frontend and mobile teams on two established products — a school platform and a football app — used across the region.

Products I've worked on

Teams I joined and products I helped build — a school platform on the web, and native apps on mobile. What follows is the part I was responsible for.

012018 – 2022

Edubook

Web & mobile learning platform

An all-in-one school management platform connecting administrators, teachers, students and parents — dashboards, messaging, class scheduling, notifications and academic performance tracking, across a web platform and a companion mobile app, built to work identically in Arabic and English.

The activity feed — the platform's centre of gravity, where lessons, announcements and attendance all surface.

OnFire

Native football app for iOS and Android

An interactive football companion app built in React Native — live match scores, player stats, and prediction-based challenge games with real prizes, designed for the quick, repeated check-ins that sports apps live on.

Arabic & RTL

Arabic and English as equal-quality experiences

Most teams discover RTL late, and then pay for it — mirrored stylesheets, broken icons, numerals running the wrong way, layouts that technically flip but read badly. I treat both directions as a first-class concern, whether that means setting a codebase up for it or working it back into one that wasn't. The screens below are the same product, in both directions.

Logical properties

Layout written with inline/block logical CSS, not hardcoded left and right.

Direction-aware components

Icons, animation and directional affordances that know which way they point.

Mixed-script typography

Arabic and Latin set together without one language looking like an afterthought.

Numerals, dates, currency

Formatting and alignment handled per-locale rather than globally guessed.

I'm a native Arabic speaker and a fluent English one, so I can review the content as well as the layout — catching the things a direction-agnostic test suite never will.

Services

What I take on

Frontend contract work, part-time or full-time, embedded in your team or owning a piece of the product end to end.

Frontend architecture

Setting up a codebase properly from the start, or restructuring one that has outgrown its original shape. Component boundaries, state management, routing, build tooling and the conventions a team can actually hold to.

Vue 3NuxtReactTypeScript

Application development

Feature work in existing production codebases — dashboards, complex multi-step flows, video interactions, admin and business tooling. Comfortable picking up an unfamiliar codebase and being useful in it quickly.

Vuex / PiniaReduxREST APIsJest

Design systems & component libraries

Turning a design file into a component library that holds up: accessible primitives, consistent tokens, documented variants, and the discipline to keep a team from reinventing the same button six times.

Arabic & RTL interfaces

Bidirectional layout done properly — not a mirrored stylesheet bolted on at the end. Logical properties, direction-aware components, mixed-script typography, and the edge cases that only show up in real Arabic content.

RTL / LTRi18nLogical CSS

Mobile applications

Cross-platform mobile built with the same rigor as web — shared component logic, native-feeling navigation and interaction, and shipping to both app stores.

React NativeIoniciOS / Android

Performance & refactoring

Making an existing application faster and less frightening to change. Bundle and render profiling, targeted refactors, and incremental migration paths that ship in pieces rather than in one risky rewrite.

A decade of production frontend

Four long-running engagements rather than a scatter of short ones — teams in the US, the Gulf and, currently, a marketplace engineering organization.
